§109 | INTEREST OF PUBLIC OFFICER IN CONTRACTS

No public officer or member of the Legislature shall be interested, directly or indirectly, in any contract with the State, or any district, county, city, or town thereof, authorized by any law passed or order made by any board of which he may be or may have been a member, during the term for which he shall have been chosen, or within one year after the expiration of such term.

NOTE: Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 548, enacted as ch. 655, Laws, 1984, adopted by the Senate on April 26, 1984, and by the House of Representatives on April 25, 1984, proposed to amend Section 109 of the Mississippi Constitution of 1890. The proposed amendment was submitted to the electorate on November 6, 1984, but was rejected.

Laws, 1986, ch. 526 (HCR No. 63), proposed to amend Section 109, Mississippi Constitution of 1890. The electorate, however, rejected the proposed amendment on June 3, 1986.
